The Production Assistant, for the purposes of ARTC, assists the Producer and Director with all aspects of the Production. Their duties will vary depending on whether the show is performed live or recorded in the studio.
Live Productions
The Production Assistant will assist with the following duties:
- Wrangling talent
- Maintaining a cast list as approved by the Director
- Assigning microphone positions
- Other duties as assigned by the Producer
- In the absence of a Script Supervisor, the PA may also ensure that all cast members, music, Foley, and recorded SFX have copies of the script, with an eye towards ensuring version control.
Studio Productions
The Production Assistant will assist with the following duties:
- Wrangling talent
- Maintaining a cast list as approved by the Director
- Tracking the scene list to be recorded to ensure a smooth flow in and out of the recording booth
- Other duties as assigned by the Producer
- In the absence of a Script Supervisor, the PA may also ensure that all cast members have a copy of the script, with an eye towards ensuring version control. The PA may also be called upon to keep track of which lines have been recorded, how many takes were recorded, and which take was the preferred take at the time of recording.
