Body Bags, aka Guillermo and Jacob

These bags are made of a heavy fabric bag sewn into three sections and uses a zipper to open and close the bag. Each section can hold up to three normal softballs. By varying the number of softballs in the bag, you can adjust how much thumping and bumping is heard when the bag is dropped, thrown on the ground, or thrown against a wall.

Toy cell phone, aka Samantha This particular toy has a variety of beep noises. The advantage of using this particular toy is that you can use the one device for a show and have about seven or eight different types of beeps available. We have several other toy cell phones, but Samantha is our old reliable for such sounds.

Metal table, aka Richard

This metal "U" is actually the table for a small table saw. It is large enough to give a good loud metal sound when banged on, but small enough to be easily transported when ARTC goes on the road. Slide a can of compressed air across the surface, and you have a fairly decent-sounding airlock or space station door (which are probably airlocks anyway...).

The Door and Dorita

"The Door" has been a part of ARTC almost as long as ARTC has been around. It was built by Joyce Lee, who frequently performed with us. The Door has a normal doorknob and latch, a deadbolt lock, a sliding lock, and a night chain. To have the door stand on its own, we have used a 2x4 attached to the base with a C clamp; being able to detach the board made the door easier to transport. It is made of very thick lumber and is heavy as all get-out. Dorita is a much lighter weight door, with a normal doorknob and latch and a deadbolt lock. Attached at the top on the back of the doorframe is a wood frame that can be pulled out from the bottom by loosening large wingnuts at the top. These built-in "legs" make it stable but easily collapsible to make transporting it easy.
